Moody, and 283 in the steerage. G. H. Smith, Esq., surgeon-superintendent.  Agents, Waitt & Tyser.

On the published passenger list were:
John Mudford Snr. Sailmaker, age 44
his wife Johanna Mudford, 44,
George Mudford aged 21, Seaman,
Ann Mudford aged 18, Servant,
William Mudford aged 8,
John Mudford Jnr., Sailcloth maker, aged 23,
his wife Susan Mudford aged 22,
Susan Mudford aged 7 weeks (born on board ship)

The New Zealand Gazette published the passenger list, and had this advice for the immigrants:

‘there are many mechanics among (the arrivals), all of whom may not immediately obtain employment in their wonted callings. To such we would say, “set to work at once on something else, and be on the look-out for engagements in your own business. That is the way to get on in a new colony. Above all things, eschew idleness and grumbling, and the company of grumblers.” We are glad to hear that many of the Clifton emigrants possess a little money saved in England. The New Zealand Company act more wisely in giving such persons free passages, than in picking paupers out of a workhouse.’
