William was a life long Bell-ringer at
Sheffield Cathedral.

William and Frank
Burgar were Members of the Ancient Society of College Youths. This was
established in 1637 and is the premier change ringing society of the City of
London. It has a national and international membership that promotes excellence
in ringing around the world.
In a list of Members from 1875 to 1899 the two Burgar brothers are mentioned
Member No 3044, William Burgar of Sheffield Yorkshire who joined in 1881.
Member No 4136
Frank Burgar of Sheffield Yorkshire who joined in 1898.
He was also a member of the Yorkshire Association of Change Ringers and is
mentioned as follows:
