Frank Burgar was a bell ringer of repute.

See details of his brother William Burgar who was a lifelong bell-ringer.134

William and Frank were Members of the Ancient Society of College Youths.  This was established in 1637 and is the premier change ringing society of the City of London. It has a national and international membership that promotes excellence in ringing around the world. 134

In a list of Members from 1875 to 1899 the two Burgar brothers mentioned

Member No 3044,  William Burgar of Sheffield Yorkshire who joined in 1881.

Member No 4136 Frank Burgar of Sheffield Yorkshire who joined in 1898.

Frank was a bell ringer in the Cathedral (the Old Church) in Sheffield. When he left for the USA on 17th February 1906 he was presented with a sterling silver bell with the following inscription.

On 30th January 1906 in 3 hours & 16 minutes, a peel of Grand Sire triples - 5040 changes = Holts Original Tenor H. Cart, F Burgar, Tre. J Atkin, S.F. Palmer, J. Evinson, T.O'Hara, R. Harrison, J.A. Dixon, G.Glenn. Conducted by Frank Burgar.

Sheffield February 13th 1906. A peel of Steadman Caters 5,079 changes in 3 hours 43 minutes, Tenor H.Cart. (ten ringers listed) .. composed by H. Haleyand conducted by G.Glen and rang as a farewell peel to F. Burgar who sailed for the United States on February 17th 1906.
 

The bell mentioned above was in the possession of James Burgar 22   the grandson of Frank, and since his death has probably passed to his sons.
