Summary of the Burgar living in Dunrossness, Sandwick & Cunningsburgh in about 1750.

Many persons who were not present in the Communicants List were having children before about 1780.  This suggests that they were alive in 1749, but were not old enough to be entered into the Communicants List.  These persons are shown in the table below.

In the Dunrossness Baptism Register there are an average of 14 births per year in the 1750s but 35 per year in the 1760s. It thus is likely that a majority of births were not entered into the Register during the 1750s.  Thus the couples may have had children prior to the first recorded children above.
