William Peacock was born in 1799 in Matching, Essex.222 He was baptized on 15 November 1799 in St Mary the Virgin, Matching, Essex.222 The Baptism Register of St Mary the Virgin, Matching, Essex has the entry:

William, son of William & Susannah Peacock, was baptised 15.11?.1799?

Wiilliam gets married in 1832 at the relatively old age of 33.   The Marriage Register of  St Mary the Virgin 249, Sheering Essex, has the entry:

William Peacock married Frances Fardell of Hatfield Broad Oak on 12.10.1832. Both signed X.

Witness: William Marlow ( Signed X )

After the marriage, he appears in the 1841 Census with his wife and children

William e dies in 1845 leaving a family of young children.  The Burial Register of  St Mary the Virgin,249 Sheering, Essex, has the entry:

William Peacock, aged, 49, was buried 2.6.1845

Frances (Fardel) Peacock continued living in Sheering and appears there in the 1851 Census with her children.  She is making ends meet by working as a charwoman.

In 1853, Frances had an illegitimate child, Charles.   See the bottom of the page for details.

However, 7 years later she dies.  The Burial Register of  St Mary the Virgin,249 Sheering, Essex, has the entry:

Frances Peacock, aged 47,  died in 1860 and was buried 18.3.1860

William Peacock and Frances Fardell had the following children:

George Peacock was born in 1834 in Sheering, Essex.249  The Baptism Register of St Mary the Virgin, Sheering Essex, has the entry:

George, son of William & Frances Peacock Labourer, was baptised 13.5.1834

Unfortunately, young George died 2 years later.  The Burial Register of St Mary the Virgin, Sheering, Essex, has the entry:

George Peacock, aged 2, was buried 3.9.1837

George Peacock was born in 1843 in Sheering, Essex and was baptized in St Mary the Virgin, Sheering, Essex.249

The Baptism Register of St Mary the Virgin, Sheering Essex, has the entry:

George, son of William & Frances Peacock Labourer, was baptised 2.7.1843

George stayed for much of his early years in Sheering, but eventually moved a few miles away to Sawbridgeworth.

In these later Censuses he worked in the brewing industry.

He seemed to have lived most of his life in a various pubs in Sawbridgeworth. The Old Bell and The Gate seem favourites.

George died in 1906.  The Civil Registration of Death reference is Jun 1906, v 3a, p 301 - in Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire.

 

 Later, after William's death,  Frances had a further child.

Charles Peacock was baptised in1853.  The Baptism Register of St Mary the Virgin, Sheering Essex, has the entry:

Charles, son of Frances Peacock, was baptised 30.1.1853.

The father is unknown.
