William Burgar was born in 1861 and was the fourth child of Edwin Burgar (1827-1871).   He married Alice Whiting in 1883 and they had 5 children but only Beatrice and Hilda survived.  Alice died before between 1895 and 1897. He then married Martha Bell in 1897 but their first three children died prior to the 1901 Census, and thus do not appear in it.

The two daughters by the previous marriage to Alice Whiting, Beatrice and Alice are shown in the Censuses below.
