Burgar was born in 1803 in St Martin in the Fields, London.94,104 She was

There is a tombstone outside St Lukes Chelsea, in the playground facing North,
in line with the front of the church, near Sydney street. The inscription reads:
Sacred to the memory of Mr Benjamin Burgar of this Parish who died July
19th 1835 aged 52 years.
Also of David Deer of this Parish son-in-law of the above who died December 19th
1853 aged 42 years. Also of Dorothy Deer wife of the above who died July 31st
1895 aged 93 years, buried at Hanwell.
See Tomstone of Benjamin Burgar and Dorothy (Burgar) Deer
Dorothy Elizabeth married David Deer in about 1830 and had six boys.
See 1851 Census.
In 1861 she is living with three of her sons. In the 1881 Census she is living
with her son Alfred James Deer. He is a licensed victualler and she seems to
be working in the Pub at the age of 76. In the 1891 Census she is living alone
in Chelsea.
See 1861 to 1891 Census returns.
In some of most of these records she is recorded as Elizabeth Deer, and once as
Elizabeth D Deer
David Deer (husband of Dorothy Elizabeth) was born in about 1811.4
He died on 19 Dec 1853 at Chelsea, London.104
The Burial Register for St Lukes, Chelsea says:
David Deer, age 42, of Keppel Street Chelsea was buried on the 19th December
1853 at St Lukes Chelsea.
The Burial book details have
David Deer, Position No 16, Row 20, 8 feet 5 Inches deep. Poor. £0.10.9d
It seems that David Deer was now resting on top of his father-in-law, who was
buried in the same plot.
The word
'Poor' probably means that he was buried by the Parish. This suggests that
Dorothy Elizabeth
may not have been very well off. At first sight this seems surprising
since her father, Benjamin Burgar, left quite a lot of money when he died.
The reasons become clearer when his Will is scrutinised (see the notes on Benjamin
Burgar).
David Deer seems to have been very versatile. In Benjamin Burgar's Will he is
described as a green grocer. When his children were christened he was a cabriolet
proprietor; in the 1851 census he was a plumber.
