After the birth of Thomas, Andrew Edwin and Georgina parted company. We are not sure when this happened, but Andrew Edwin then formed a relationship with Alice Edith Riggott. We will come back to this later. Georgina remarried in early 1891 (see below).
Georgina Wright was born about 1856 in Sheffield, Yorkshire.15
Georgina Wright after her failed marriage to Edwin Burgar married John Gregory in 1891. Civil Registration of marriage reference is Mar 1891 V 9c p564 - Sheffield, Yorkshire.16
Since divorce would have been impossible for a poor person, she probably used the commonly held view that if you had no contact with your spouse for seven years then you could assume that they no longer existed and you were free to remarry.
See Attitudes to remarrying for poorer persons.
She appears in the 1891 Census with her two sons, Edwin (aged 9) and Thomas (aged 7), and her new husband. The family are lodgers rather than having a home of their own.
Ten years on and Georgina (Wright-Burgar) Gregory has only one of her son's, Edwin, living with her. Her other son, Thomas, has been adopted by the Worsley family. It is seen that she had further children with John Gregory.
Andrew Edwin Burgar and Alice Ada Riggot (sometimes Alice Edith)
After his separation from Georgina, Andrew Edwin Burgar, we find that he and Edith Riggott had many children. The first child was registered as Edith Riggot in 1889. A second child was registered as William Burgar Riggot. A third child was recorded as Frederick Riggot Burgar. The two subsequent children had the Burgar surname. It would seem that Edwin Burgar was not too committed to the relationship early on. Strictly speaking, he would not have been able to have a formal marriage since he was still married to Georgina Wright. That
We have not been able to locate him or Edith Riggott in the 1891 Census. We have been told by
relatives that he travelled around dealing in horses, and died as a result of
being kicked by a horse. It is thus possible that he was not entered into the
Census Returns for 1891.
Andrew Edwin unfortunately died in 1898 and so left Edith a young widow with
4 children to support.

Alice Ada Riggot was born in

Riggott.)

We have not been able to find her in the 1871 Census but she appears with her family in the 1881 Census.
We can not find her or Andrew Burgar in the 1891 Census, but after Andrew's death in 1898 she is seen as a widow with her five children in the 1901 Census.
When Alice Ada, married Joseph Palmer in 1901, she was married under the name Alice Ada Riggott. This suggests that she was not actually married to Andrew Burgar,
