Amy Matilda Webster was born on 17 July 1860 and was baptized in St Brides, Fleet St, London.⁵² The Baptism Register of St Brides, Fleet Street, states:

Ann Matilda, daughter of Richard Stimson and Jane Eliza Webster, Omnibus Conductor of 3 Newberry Place, Maldon Road, was born on 17/8/1860 and was baptised on 16/10/1860.

Amy appears with her parents in the 1861 and 1871 Censuses.

Amy Matilda Webster and William Bates were married in about 1880²¹⁹  and appear together in the 1881 Census.  Also with them is Jane Eliza Webster, Amy's widowed mother.
