James Rowe is a direct ancestor of Bill Burgar, the author of this work.

He was baptized in 1795 at St Mary Major, Exeter, Devon.²⁰

The IGI has the entry:

James son of James and Elizabeth Rowe was baptised on the 11/10/1795 at St Mary Major, Exeter, Devon.

James died in 1872 in Plymouth, Devon.¹⁶ Civil Registration of Death reference is Jun 1872, Vol 5b, p199. Aged 78 - in Plymouth, Devon.¹⁶

James Rowe married Harriette Braddon in 1818. The IGI states:

James Rowe and Harriette Braddon were married on 27 April 1818 in St Mary Steps, Exeter, Devon.

James and Harriette had the majority of their children in Exeter.

After this they moved to Plymouth.

Harriette Braddon is a direct ancestor of Bill Burgar, the author of this work.

She was born in 1798 in Exeter, Devon.²⁰ She was baptized on 4 February 1798 in St Thomas the Apostle, Exeter, Devon.²⁰

Harriete died in 1879 in Plymouth, Devon.¹⁶ Civil Registration of Death reference is Jun 1879, vol 5b, p 195. Aged 79. - in Plymouth, Devon.¹⁶

James Rowe and Harriete Braddon had the following children:

Samuel Rowe was baptized on 2 August 1818 in St Mary Steps, Exeter, Devon. He probably died soon after this as the next child was also a Samuel. .

She was living with her parents in the 1841 Census (see above).

Harriette Rowe was baptized on 16 February 1823 in St Mary Major, Exeter, Devon.²⁰
She was living with her parents in the 1841 Census (see above).
v.
William James Rowe was baptized on 13 May 1827 in St Mary Major, Exeter, Devon.²⁰
He does not appear with his parents in the 1841 Census, and another William was baptised in 1834, so may have died prior to this.
vi.
Caroline Charlotte Rowe was baptized on 1 February 1829 in St George Exeter, Devon.²⁰
She was living with her parents in the 1841 Census (see above).

James Rowe was baptized on 9 December 1830 in St George Exeter, Devon.²⁰
He was living with his parents in the 1841 and 1851 Censuses (see above).
