John Peacock (1738-?) - son of John Peacock (about 1710-1742)

John Peacock  is a direct ancestor of Bill Burgar, author of this work. 

He was baptized on 10 September 1738 in Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire.197 The Baptism Register of Great St Mary, Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire, has the entry:

John, son of John & Mary Peacock, was baptised 10.9.1738.

We have not found a record of his death.

John Peacock married Mary Childs in High Laver, Essex.243 The Marriage Register for All Saints, High Laver, Essex, has the entry:

John Peacock, bachelor, and Mary Childs, spinster, both of this parish were married by Banns on 26.10.1763 at High laver. Both signed X.
Witnesses:  Jhon 'Littel' and John Daines?

The Banns were read on 2,9,16 Oct 1763.

Jhon Littel, (really John Little, had some trouble with spelling his name),  was the half brother of John Peacock.


Mary Childs was born in 1738. She died in Matching, Housham Tye, Essex, and was buried on 19 January 1834.222  The Burial Register of St Mary the Virgin, Matching, Essex, has the entry:

Mary Peacock, aged 96, of Housham Tye was buried 19.1.1834
