Jane (Collins-Wardopper) Patterson died in 1857 in Cambridgeshire. After the death of his first wife Jane Collins, William Paine Patterson and Eleanor Scott were married in about 1858.11 We have not found the actual marriage so are not absolutely certain that the surname is Scott. However, we have found births of Eleanor Scott in 1839. She is the daughter of Richard and Elizabeth Scott, and appears in the 1841 and 1851 Census returns with them. She does not appear in later census returns, and does not appear in the marriage index for London on Ancestry (although this is not complete). It is thus possible that she is his wife. More needs to be done to confirm this. Eleanor Floods Scott was born in 1841 in Lambeth, Surrey.4,12 She died in 1893 in Kensington, London.16 Civil Registration of Death reference is Jun 1893, Vol 1a, p 56.
