John Mudford is a direct ancestors of Bill Burgar, the author of this work.

He was baptized  in West Chinnock.¹⁴⁵ The West Chinnock Baptism Register states:

John, son of Thomas and Jane Mudford was baptised on 28th January 1687.

He was buried in West Chinnock.¹⁴⁵   The West Chinnock Burial Register states:

John Mudford was buried 28th October 1753

John Mudford and Mary were married about 1710¹²¹  and had the following children:

	i.	John Mudford. (It is emphazised that we have not found a baptism record for John.  However, there is very good circumstantial evidence for the belief that he existed - see notes on this topic)
	ii.	Thomas Mudford was baptized on 15th Jul 1716 in West Chinnock.145   The West Chinnock Baptism Register states: Thomas, son of John and Mary Mudford was baptised on 15th July 1716. He may have died in 1732 at West Chinnock.  The West Chinnock Burial Register145 states: Thomas Mudford was buried 11th June 1732. However, it is unclear whether the burial refers to this Thomas Mudford or to his grandfather who would have been 69 years old at the time.
