John
Mudford is a direct ancestors of Bill Burgar, the author
of this work. He was born about 1710.121
It has been assumed that he is the son of John and Mary Mudford, but this
has not been proved. Further searches will be made to see if this can
be verified.. He was buried in West
Chinnock.145
The West Chinnock Burial Register states:
John Mudford buried 9th June 1782 John Mudford and Elizabeth were
married about 1730.121
The IGI states that Elizabeth was Elizabeth Murley. Elizabeth was buried
in West Chinnock.145
The West Chinnock Burial Register states:
Elizabeth, wife of John Mudford, buried 14th April 1774.

He was buried in West Chinnock,112,145
although he was living in Middle Chinnock at this time.
The West Chinnock Burial Register states:
Barnard Mudford buried 12th January 1772.
Barnard Mudford married Elizabeth Parker in Middle Chinnock.144
The Middle Chinnock Marriage Register states:
Bernard Mudford of the parish of West Chinnock and Elizabeth Parker of this
parish were married by Banns 6th May 1759.
The descendants of Barnard Mudford lived in Middle Chinnock into the
1800s.

Firstly he married Mary ? about 1763.121

The West Chinnock Burial Register states:
Mary, wife of John Mudford buried 25th September 1768.
There is a tomb stone standing in the churchyard by the south porch
at the chancel end of the the West Chinnock Parish church. It states:
Here Lyeth the body of Mary
The wife of John Mudford
junr, who died September ye 14th 1768
aged 28

John Mudford and Mary had the following children:
Thus Mary died on 14 Sep 1768 at West Chinnock.145,148
at the age of 28 years. She was thus born in 1740,148
and would have been the same age as her husband, John Mudford.
After Mary's death John Mudford married Martha Lane in
West Chinnock.145,149
The West Chinnock Bishops Transcripts states:
John Mudford and Martha Lane were married by Banns on June 15th 1772.
Both signed with an X
Witnesses were Thos Ford and George Lane.
The descendants of John and Mary, and John and Martha, continued to live

William Mudford and Mary Unknown were married about 1765.121
William Mudford and Mary Unknown had children who continued to live
in West Chinnock into the 1800s.
