Mountfitchet, Essex.105
The Baptism Register at Stanstead Mountfitchett states: James son of
John and Elizabeth Bond was baptised 11/3/1781
We are not sure where or when he died but it was probably between 1851 and
1861.
James appeared in the census in 1841 in Stanstead Mountfitchet, Essex9
with his family. In the 1851 Census James was in Bottisham Village,
Cambridgeshire10
and was a widow. We have not been able to find him in the 1861 Census so
it is likely that he had died pre 1861. He was a Labourer 1826-1839 and a Horse keeper in 1839, 1841.6,9,105

James Bond married twice, firstly to Sarah Read in 1802 in Quendon, Essex.149,195
The Marriage Register of Quendon states: James Bond , bachelor of Stansted
Mountfitchett, and Sarah Read, Spinster, of this Parish were married by
Banns on 28/12/1802. Both signed X Witnesses John Bond -signed, Rebecca
rider signed X and James Connell signed. Banns were read on 19, 26 July and 2 Aug
1802. Sarah Read was born in 1782.4,149,195
She died and was buried in 1813 in Quendon.149,195
The entry in the Burial Register at Quendon Parish church states :
Sarah Bond was buried at Quendon, Essex on 28/4/1813 aged 31
Before she died, James Bond and Sarah Read had the
two children below, although there may have been others.:

Mary Bond was baptized in Quendon.195
The Baptism Register for the Parish Church at Quendon, Essex states:
Mary daughter of James and Sarah Bond was baptised 14/3/1812
She appears as a pauper in the 1851 Census.

Some ten years after the death of his first wife, Sarah Read,
James Bond married Mary Anne Wallis in Stanstead
Mountfitchet, Essex.105
The marriage Register at Stansted Mountfitchett has: James Bond, Widower,
and Mary Ann Wallis of this parish were married 1823.
Both signed with X The Witnesses were Elizabeth
Chapman signed with X and William Strange signed (The exact date of the
marriage is not
given, but the entries on either side of this one have the dates 27/5/1823
and 1/11/1823).
Mary Anne Wallis was born in 1791 in Essex
according to the 1841 Census in Stanstead Mountfitchet, Essex.9
With her in this Census was her husband, James Bond, and children. Mary Ann Wallis was known
as Ann or Anna Bond in the Census return and on the birth certificates of some
of her children.

However, in the 1851 Census, James Bond was a widower. Thus Mary Anne Wallace must have died prior to 1851. James

was baptized in Stanstead Mountfitchet, Essex.105
The Baptism Register for Stanstead Mountfitchet states:
Elizabeth daughter of James and Ann Bond, Labourer, was baptised 6/12/1829
whereas the Bishops Transcripts (D/CR 336) 149
states:
Harriot
daughter of James and Ann Bond was baptised 6/12/1829. However
when she appears in the 1841 Census she is referred to as Lizzie,
suggesting that her real name is Elizabeth. We have not been able to
trace her after that date.

She may have married and lived with her father in Bottisham Village,
Cambridge.

and Anna Bond formerly Wallis. The birth was registered by Anna Bond,
mother of Stansted, on the 10/4/1839. She signed with an X. The birth
was registered in the Registration District of Bishop Stortford,
sub-district of Stansted in Essex.
She appeared with her
parents in the census in 1841 in Stanstead Mountfitchet, Essex.9
She also appears with her widowed father in the 1851 Census in Bottisham
Village, Cambridgeshire.10
