George Bond was born on 12 December 1887 in Battersea, London.88,216 He was baptized on 25 March 1891 in St Mary, Battersea.88 The Baptism Register of St Mary, Battersea states:

George Bond, born 12th December 1887, son of James and Emma Bond, 7 Orville Road, Battersea, Labourer , was baptised on the 25th March 1891 St Mary, Battersea.

He appears with his parents in the 1891 and 1901 Censuses in Battersea, London.14 15

He started work with the railway when he was about 13 years old.   The Great Western Railway has a series of Registers. In the Register of appointed staff -No5 London Division - 1896-1906 there is the following extract:

G Bond, 34954 Date of Entering service 2.10.1902. Cart Boy at Kensington, Addison Road.
Pay 7/- ;      On 1.10.1902 = 10/-;     On 1.10.1903 = 12/-;     On 1.10.1903 = 14/-
Remarks: Extra T.C. 16/4/1902

In another Register is a similar entry:

George Bond, 34954 Born 12.12.1887. Date of Entering service 2.10.1902
Cart Boy at Kensington
( i.e. Addison Road )
Pay 7/- ;     On 1.10.1902 = 10/-;     On 1.10.1903 = 12/-;     On 1.10.1903 = 14/-
Previously employed by West London Extension Railway from March 1902. No trace.

(“No Trace” s probably means that he left the service suddenly ).

George Bond and Louisa S A Ward were married in 1915 in Wandsworth, London. Civil Registration of marriage reference is Jun 1915, Vol 1d, p 1801. - in Wandsworth, London.16
