He appears with his parents in the 1891 and 1901 Censuses in Battersea, London.14 15 He started work with the railway when he was about 13 years old. The Great Western Railway has a series of Registers. In the Register of appointed staff -No5 London Division - 1896-1906 there is the following extract: G Bond, 34954 Date of Entering service 2.10.1902. Cart Boy
