George Bond was born on 12 December 1887 in Battersea, London.^88,216 He was baptized on 25 March 1891 in St Mary, Battersea.⁸⁸ The Baptism Register of St Mary, Battersea states:

George Bond, born 12th December 1887, son of James and Emma Bond, 7 Orville Road, Battersea, Labourer , was baptised on the 25th March 1891 St Mary, Battersea.

He appears with his parents in the 1891 and 1901 Censuses in Battersea, London.^{14 15}

He started work with the railway when he was about 13 years old.   The Great Western Railway has a series of Registers. In the Register of appointed staff -No5 London Division - 1896-1906 there is the following extract:

G Bond, 34954 Date of Entering service 2.10.1902. Cart Boy at Kensington, Addison Road.
Pay 7/- ;      On 1.10.1902 = 10/-;     On 1.10.1903 = 12/-;     On 1.10.1903 = 14/-

(“No Trace” s probably means that he left the service suddenly ).

George Bond and Louisa S A Ward were married in 1915 in Wandsworth, London. Civil Registration of marriage reference is Jun 1915, Vol 1d, p 1801. - in Wandsworth, London.¹⁶
