John Bond (1734-1823) - son of Edmund Bond (about 1700-1769)

. John Bond is a direct ancestors of Bill Burgar, the author of this history.

John Bond was born on 2 August 1734 and was baptized on 11 August 1734 in Wicken Bonhunt, Essex.²¹⁰ The Baptism Register of Wicken Bonhunt has the entry:

John son of Edmond Bond and Frances born 2/8/1734 and baptised on the 11/8/1734

He was buried on 23 March 1823 in Stanstead Mountfitchet, Essex.^105, The Burial Register of Stanstead Mountfitchett has the entry:

John Bond,  aged 90 years, was buried 23/3/1823.

He would thus have been born in about 1733 which is in line with the actual birth on 2nd August 1734.

John Bond was married twice.  Firstly, he married Ann Scot in Clavering, Essex.¹⁷⁹ The Marriage Register for Clavering has the entry:

John Bond bachelor and Ann Scott spinster both of this Parish married by Banns 9/2/1756. Both signed X
Witnesses Philip Fulton ?? and Thomas Burk both signed.

(The Banns were read on the 1,6,& 8th February 1756 and they were married the day after the last Banns were read)

Ann Scott was born about 1740.⁵

She died in 1773 and was buried on 3 September 1773 in Clavering, Essex.¹⁷⁹ The Burial Register for Clavering has the entry:

Ann Bond was buried 3/9/1773

John Bond and Ann Scott had the following children:

i.	John Bond
ii.	Sarah Bond was baptized on 19 October 1760 in Clavering, Essex.179  The Baptism Register at the Parish Church in Clavering States: Sarah daughter of John Bond and Ann was baptised on the 19/10/1760
iii.	Anne Bond was baptized on 14 November 1762 in Clavering, Essex.179 The Baptism Register at the Parish Church in Clavering States: Anne daughter of John Bond and Ann was baptised on the 14/11/1762

John Bond's second marriage was to Elizabeth Perrin in Stanstead Mountfitchet, Essex.¹⁰⁵ The Marriage Register of the Parish Church of Stanstead Mountfitchett states:

John Bond, widower, and Elizabeth Perrin, Spinster, both of this Parish were married in this church by Banns on the 25th December 1773.
John Bond signed the register and Elizabeth Perrin made a mark (X).
The witnesses were George Perrin ? and Thomas Riley (who seems to have been the clerk)

Apart from signing his name at his own marriage, he also signed the Marriage Register for his son James and Sarah Read on the 28/12/1802 ¹⁰⁵

 Elizabeth Perrin was baptized on 13 May 1753 in Rickling.¹⁹⁶ The Baptism Register of Ricking states:

Elizabeth daughter of John and Mary Perring was baptised on the 13/5/1753

Elizabeth was buried on 29 October 1818 in Stanstead Mountfitchet, Essex.¹⁰⁵ The Burial Register of Stanstead Mountfitchett has the entry:

Elizabeth Bond was buried 29/10/1818 aged 71

This would mean that she was born in 1747 which is at variance with her baptism above.  Either she was baptised some 6 years after her birth or the age at death is wrong or it may be the wrong Elizabeth Perrin.  Further work is needed to check this out.

ii.	Edmund Bond was  baptized on 21 January 1776 in Stanstead Mountfitchet, Essex.105  The Baptism Register at Stanstead Mountfitchett states: Edmund son of John and Elizabeth Bond was baptised 21/1/1776
iii.	Lydia Bond was  baptized on 21 September 1777 in Stanstead Mountfitchet, Essex.105  The Baptism Register at Stanstead Mountfitchett states: Lydia d. of John and Elizabeth Bond baptised 21/9/1777 She died in Stanstead Mountfitchet, Essex.105  The Burial Register of Stanstead Mountfitchett has the entry: Lydia daughter of John and Elizabeth Bond was buried 11/3/1778
iv.	Rachael Bond
v.	Elizabeth Bond  died and was buried on 27 November 1782 in Stanstead Mountfitchet, Essex.105  The Burial Register of Stanstead Mountfitchett has the entry: Elizabeth daughter of John and Elizabeth Bond was buried 27/11/1782 It is not clear when Elizabeth was born.
vi.	James Bond
vii.	Mary Bond was baptized in Stanstead Mountfitchet, Essex.105  The Baptism Register at Stanstead Mountfitchett states: Mary daughter of John and Elizabeth Bond baptised 31/3/1782 Mary was buried on 23 July 1783 in Stanstead Mountfitchet, Essex.105  The Burial Register of Stanstead Mountfitchett has the entry: Mary daughter of John and Elizabeth Bond was buried 23/7/1783 (It would mean that this is the second Mary Bond with John and Elizabeth as Parents.  Needs to be checked out.)

ix.	Fanny Bond was baptized in Stanstead Mountfitchet, Essex.105  The Baptism Register at Stanstead Mountfitchett states: Fanny daughter of John and Elizabeth Bond was baptised 5/3/1786
