Joseph Henry Burgar appears in in the 1871 Census living with his parents.
For some reason, Joseph Henry, is sent to a school in Liverpool.
Most of the inmates came from Middlesex, London. It is possible that this merely
means London in general.
Holy Trinity Industrial School appears to be one of those schools that was set
up in the late 1800s to house and to train young children who were orphans or
had been abandoned. The intention was to train them for a trade that would
enable them to be self-sufficient once they left the Institution.
Often these schools had brass bands which made it easy for inmates to join the
army as bandsmen. Joseph was a cornet player. I have been told that
he died of cancer of the lips.

It is possible that Joseph Henry had behavioural problems that resulted in his
being sent away from London. Further work is being carried out to find out more
about the reasons for Joseph being in Liverpool.
Joseph Henry's daughter, Winnifred (1906-1999), has told us that Joseph lived with Netto
relations in Liverpool while he attended a Choir school attached to the cathedral.130 If this is true, then it throws a different light onto the reasons for him going
to Liverpool. Winnie also said that the family were said to be real mongrels,
with Jewish blood coming from the Netto family. David Netto, one of Rachel
Netto's relatives was in Liverpool at this time.
