reference is Dec 1876 V 1d p 647 - Wandsworth London16 She was baptized on 30 Dec 1881 in St Mary, Battersea,
London.88 The following
is a summary of the entry in the Baptism Register:
Esther, born 14th October 1876, daughter of Alfred and Mary Ann Burgar, Fishmonger
of 2 Strewan Street, Chelsea, was baptised on the 30th December 1881 at St Mary
Battersea.
Earlier Esther's twin sister had been buried at St Mary Battersea.
She is living with her parents in the 1881 to 1901 Census.
In 1901 she was a Laundress ironer.15 Like many of the her sisters and sisters-in-law, she was employed by her mother, who has been reported as a slave driver.
At about this time she is photographed with her father, Alfred Burgar.
and with her mother Mary Ann (Wetherilt) Burgar
Soon after this Hester Burgar and Lawrence Butcher were married in 1901 in Fulham London25,123 . Civil Registration of marriage reference is Sep 1901 V 1A p 602 - Fulham London.16 The Marriage Certificate states:
Esther Burgar, aged 24, Spinster of 11, Breer Street, Fulham, and Lawrence
Butcher aged 23, Bachelor, labourer of 47, Hugan Road, Fulham, were married by
Banns on 4th August 1901 at St Matthew Church. Fulham
Fathers were Alfred Burgar, Fishmonger and George Lancum Butcher, Labourer.
Witnesses were Frederick Parker and Martha Butcher (sister of groom).

She died on 8 Nov 1946 at Wimbledon, Surrey.17,123
Her Death Certificate states:
Esther Butcher, aged 70 years, died on 8th November 1946 at 15 Kingsley
Road, Wimbeldon. She was the wife of Lawrence Butcher, General Labourer and died
of Carcinoma of bladder, certified by Grace M. Mitchell M.D. The informant was
W. Butcher, son , also of 15 Kingsley Road, Wimbledon and the death was
registered on the 8/11/1946 in the Registration District of Surrey North
Eastern, sub district of Wimbledon, Surrey. Civil Registration of marriage
reference is Sep 1901 V 1A p 602 - Fulham London.16
Lawrence Butcher died in 1960 at Carshalton, Surrey. The Death
Certificate states (but some words difficult to read):
Lawrence Butcher, aged 82 years, died on 29 February 1960 at St Helier?
Hospital, Carshalton, Surrey. He was a retired labourer of 22 fortinis? Road,
Mitcham, Surrey and died of broncho pneumonia, accelerated by a fractured femur
- accidental death. Certicicate received from Cyril Bevan?, Coroner for Surrey.
Inquest held 4th March 1960, Death registered on 7th March 1960 Certificate
issued to Thomas Butcher of 39 Elim Court, London Road, Mitcham, Surrey on 9th
March 1960.
