Census Returns for Mary (Gough) (Burgar) West (1788-18?)

1841 Census

Unfortunately, 24 Banner Square, where Mary and Andrew West were living when her daughter died in 1835, is missing from the 1841 Census. Thus John Wesley Burgar and his mother, now Mary West, are not recorded.

After the death of John (the Methodist) Burgar in Jamaica in 1816, his widow married Andrew Wood West.  Her son John Wesley Burgar, married in 1844 and was now living in at Aston, near Birmingham.  Since he was a watch maker, it is possible that he learnt the trade from his step-uncle, John West. Mary and Andrew West are still living at the same address that Mary's daughter was buried from in 1835.
